
Bill West-Davis
a friend to humans and lumens alike
Bill West-Davis is a lighting designer from South Carolina who occasionally dabbles in scenic and projection design. He has created designs for Trustus Theatre, The Crowley Theatre, Texas Tech University, Limestone University, Actors Theatre of Charlotte, and Off-Broadway at The Players Theater in NYC. In addition to his freelance work, he teaches as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Theatre at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC.
Bill's work has been featured in the Southeastern Theatre Conference's publication of "Southern Theatre." He received a Meritorious Achievement Award for Excellence in Lighting Design at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in 2020. In 2019, he received the National Partners in American Theatre Award and was a runner-up for Excellence in Lighting Design at KCACTF. He was also a runner-up for Best Lighting Design for Broadway World Charlotte's 2022 awards and again in 2025. Recently, Bill received an Outstanding Achievement Award for Lighting Design at the 2025 Annual Kay Awards for Hickory Community Theatre.
Bill holds a BA in Theatre from Coker College and an MFA in Theatre Arts from Texas Tech University. Outside of work, he enjoys board games, motorcycling, performance photography, cosplay, 3D printing, and spending time with his wife Ashley, son Oliver, and their corgis, Tucker and Loki, and their cat, Mabel.
